Through the relationship of the Lakota people to the horse, we can see the importance of adaptability to the future of our own culture. Once the Lakota people adapted horses into their world, they became a part of the Lakota identity, much like how we discover new and exciting things about ourselves when we adapt to major changes in our lives.
