- - Ponderosa Pines are the main variety of trees found in the Black Hills in South Dakota. Their inner bark, smelling of vanilla and butterscotch, has been used by the Native Americans as a source of food (in addition to the seeds) and its resin as a medicinal salve for rheumatism, backaches, and dandruff. The needles were also woven to make baskets and boiled to treat coughs and fevers.
- - And much like the pinecone represented in our Pinecone Pendant, ponderosa pine trees have a knack for being able to find the light in low-lit areas by twisting, bending, and reaching their trunks and branches. Let anyone wearing one of these pieces be reminded that even in times when things seem bleak and the light seems far away, know you have the strength to adapt and overcome any situation you find yourself in.
